Not too long ago, a laptop was considered a step below a desktop computer, with fewer features and slower performance, but with the advantage of being portable. Today’s laptops are nearly equal to desktops in every way, it’s best to consider how you will be using the computer before you decide to purchase. 

To Move or Not to Move…That is the Question.

If you do 99% of your computer work at your desk, a desktop is probably the best choice for you.  However, if you are a student, or need to travel and use your computer on a regular basis, a laptop is the right option. 

Size and Features Matter:

Do you need a webcam?  Most laptops come with built-in webcams today.  Are you a serious gamer with need for a big screen and loads of memory?  Desktops offer a great variety of large screens, perfect for gaming, and make it easier to upgrade your computer with video cards, sound cards as your computer ages.  

Workhorse…or Casual Use?

If you plan to use your computer for long work days, and have a need for serious multi-tasking, a desktop is probably the best option.  However, if you are a light computer user, and value flexibility over performance, a laptop may be a better fit for your needs.
